UNDP Resident Representative and Swedish Ambassador Review Achievements of the Sida-Supported Project in Alaverdi
On March 5, 2026, Natia Natsvlishvili, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia, and H.E. Eva Sundquist, Ambassador of Sweden to Armenia, visited Alaverdi consolidated community to review achievements under the UNDP “Strengthened Community Resilience through Energy Efficiency and Low Emission Development” project, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Head of Alaverdi community David Ghumashyan accompanied the high-level guests during the visit.

Report on the application of corporate GHG emission reporting and disclosure standards in Armenia
The report outlines the methodology and findings of an in-depth assessment on enhancing GHG emissions disclosure in Armenia, with a particular focus on aligning with international practices and supporting private sector engagement. The methodology section details the use of desk research, stakeholder consultations, case study reviews, and benchmarking analyses to ensure a comprehensive and contextualized approach. The report then provides a country context overview, including Armenia’s economic profile, climate policy landscape, and current GHG emissions status. It further explores international experience in GHG emissions measurement and reporting, drawing lessons for national adaptation. The core of the analysis focuses on market trends in both the corporate and financial sectors, highlighting current efforts and gaps in emissions disclosure. The final section presents key recommendations, supported by stakeholder input gathered through structured interviews and online surveys, aiming to strengthen transparency systems and align Armenia’s private sector with emerging global standards.

The National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Document for 1990-2022 of the Republic of Armenia has been developed under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, with the financial support of the Global Environment Facility and the assistance of the United Nations Development Program, within the "Development of the First Biennial Transparency Report of Armenia and the Combined Fifth National Communication and the Second Biennial Transparency Report to the UNFCCC"¬ project implemented by the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" state non-commercial organization.
